dullness, darkness, halloween
hi. remember me?
seems like forever since i updated. what can i say? i've committed the ultimate of all sins: i've become dull. or maybe i was always boring and i'm the last to realize this. but what are you gonna do about it? bear with me. i really hope i haven't scared everyone away from here b/c i do still try to read everyone else even when i don't write or feel introspective, witty, or diary-ish. (i think i just made up that last word).
truthfully, i haven't been in a journaly mood as of late. i think it's because i'm in a wait-and-see mode regarding something important. [whisper: but you know, it's really b/c of last week's red sox loss...it sure was disappointing--but at least it made for good baseball while it lasted]. i've been having a tough time physically as well--this time of the year is always hard with the pain and fatigue. right now the leaves are beautiful, but some things fill me with a twinge of...i don't know...sadness or longing, i guess. i can't put my finger on it.
oh, how i'm *dreading* the time change this weekend. it's as though something intangible slips away as the sun moves further away towards the tropic of capricorn. i guess i can't complain, though, b/c at my last job, my office had no windows. it was bright inside, with flourescent lights, but NO WINDOWS?!?! in short, i hated november and december, when i'd go to work before the sun was all the way up, and emerge at 5pm into darkness. IT SUCKED BALLS. i always made a point of getting outside during lunch whenever possible.
next week is halloween. what should i be for the halloween party? i'm thinking of being a black cat, since it's pretty simple: i've got tons of black clothes, my hair is dark. all i need is whiskers and a tail. this weekend i'm getting a pumpkin at the farmer's market--two actually--one for making pumpkin bread or a pie (mmm!), and one for carving. i want to carve creatively this year and need some ideas.
