a wrigley-fenway match would have been wicked awesome...

i deleted last night's entry b/c i realized i was too upset to be coherent after the cubs lost.

autumn always gets me thinking about boston--one of my favorite cities, and certainly one that holds many memories for me. i usually associate october in boston with pretty foliage and the annual head of the charles regatta. but it's been a long time since october had me thinking about both boston and baseball at the same time. i want to weigh in on the ballpark action, but what do i say? j'aime les chausettes rouge?

okay. maybe i won't even try, because in their recent entries, diaryland's beantown natives bathtubmary and vivakate have been saying it much better than i ever could. and how can you not, when you've been following the diamond action live over a fenway frank, washed down with a six dollar beer? (i'm assuming you cracked open an ice cold sam adams).

all i can tell you is that i really hoped to see some world series action at wrigley field and fenway park, with a red sox-cubs match-up. after last night, it obviously ain't happenin'. i was elated to see the sox victory. then i got depressed by the cubs' performance. i'm holding out some hope for tonight. [go sox!] i suppose close games and last-minute stuff do make for good baseball, though. nothing beats sitting at the edge of your seat with white knuckles up until the bottom of the 9th inning. in fact, one of the best games i watched over the summer involved a 10th inning home run by none other than SF giant barry bonds, leading to victory over the atlanta braves. so yeah, i'm with amishboy.

tonight. 8pm. tune in to watch the sox and yankees duke it out. it's going to be a wicked awesome game. yes, i did say "wicked".
