onstage, online...

starr hill (where bts played last week) definitely has some of the best microbrews in town. and needless to say, the good times and live music there are tops. when i first moved here, it was called blue ridge brewery, and was owned and operated by the grandson of literary great william faulkner. it was a lovely alehouse, and i used to go there after class occasionally when i was in grad school. the raspberry ale was excellent. then, a couple of years ago, it became starr hill brewery and expanded to include a music hall featuring more live performances.

last tuesday, the trachtenburg family slideshow players performed there along with a guest act, named kimya dawson, who is apparently from an indie band called the "moldy peaches". [for more info on the trachtenburg family slideshow players, go to this NPR feature article from last spring; for more info on the moldy peaches, go to this page on vh1].

never heard of the moldy peaches? well i'm not that familiar with the moldy peaches either, as they're a new find for me. so i recently looked online to find out more about this onstage performer. and guess what? it led me to, of all places, a diaryland member's diary! although i only took a cursory glance at it, this woman keeps a blog where she talks about her performances and tours. yep, that's right. how crazy is that?! she's onstage and online...

gotta sign off now. there's laundry cascading out of my closet and begging to be done.
