oh wow! my friend cindy always talks me into the craziest things and she just tried it again. don't laugh! maybe it sounds a little lame, but my next new adventure just may be... speed dating!
yes, i'm a bachelorette! the way speed dating works is insane. i think you talk to 25 guys in one night. at the end of the evening, you list your favorites and the men list theirs. if there's a match, great! it could be fun and/or interesting. i have no idea. i have nothing to lose other than $25 for the hors d'oeuvres (sp?) and drinks. off out comes my little black dress!
i'm not taking it that seriously though. i'll either come away elated and with potential dates or boyfriends. or i'll return with a funny horror story to write about here. the perk: there's none of the shit that comes with 1:1 blind dates. the catch: the guys range in age from 25-45 but i wish it were 25-35. the thought of the 45 y.o.'s is just ...ew. they're probably already divorced with three kids anyway. no thanks. that's a bit too old for me. not to sound shallow, or ageist or anything.
the biggest age difference i've experienced in a relationship was a guy four yrs older, and also one who was two yrs younger. i was fine and comfortable with both. yeah i know it depends on the individual and all that. i'd say right now i probably wouldn't want anyone older than 34 or 35, OR more than two years younger than i am. funny how i used to say "no way" to the idea of younger guys until i dated one in grad school...
maybe speed dating is like a quick version of the bachelor/bachelorette all in one night! so should i do it? or no?
