popups, banners, and spam...

is this targeted advertising or just harrassment?

first: every time i go online, i'm bombarded by the following popup ads:

1) amazing x-cam or home surveillance

2) the world's best online casino

3) university of phoenix online courses

second: whenever i'm logged on here to update, the same members' banner ads seem to pop up over and over again, although there will be no naming names.

third: whenever i log onto my hotmail account, my junkmail folder is filled w/ spam: credit related stuff, home mortgages, car loans, free xxx sites, claims to get me looking all buff and toned, and claims to increase my testosterone level. now, apparently this isn't targeted advertising is it?

because:

1) i have good credit unless someone has stolen my identity since i last got my annual credit report

2) i live in rental property and am not a homeowner quite yet

3) i have a car and am not looking for a new one quite yet

4) i don't go to xxx sites

5) i work out honestly at the gym. yoga, swimming, walking, running, weights, and the elliptical trainer are the way to go. no anabolic steroids for me. my view: do it the honest way and be happy w/ the results.

6) testosterone? you know, i'm a girl...one who gets estrogen laced mood swings and pms...

all that even though my hotmail account spam filter is set to "high"....
