love interests; alcatraz & the sf bay

question: if you were a character in "harry potter", who do you think you would be and why?
my answer: i'd be cho chang--harry potter's love interest but i won't say why. i'll just leave it at that and let everyone draw their own conclusions as to why i'd choose to be her in the book/movie. ;)

alcatraz....san francisco...
i was just thinking about how fears of flying can be worse when taking off or landing near water. so many cities have airports right on the water like boston, nyc, sf and wash dc. when i went to sf in '92 and '99, the plane came in at an angle that didn't really take us over water. but last june, flying into sfo, we flew over water. it was sort of eerie (but also pretty--it would have been prettier if we could have seen the golden gate bridge from the plane) descending over the water...it was sunset and the fog had started to roll in and so the water was murky and dark and it looked as though we'd land right in the sf bay. i thought about those freezing cold, dark waters and immediately regretted watching a t.v. program a few days earlier on the discovery channel about how it was impossible for anyone to escape from alcatraz b/c: 1) the currents are so strong that anyone trying to swim towards the city will instead get swept out to sea, and 2)the h2o temps are too cold to survive in w/o getting hypothermia and going into shock before getting to shore. sf is also right along the great white shark triangle zone so you can imagine...
