pomp & circumstance
Architect Boy graduated from UVA's School of Architecture on sunday with his Master's degree in Urban & Environmental Planning (UEP). lucky-- John Grisham was the UVA commencement speaker, and not surprisingly, his dry wit made for a great, great speech! i've been a little bit sad lately in a way that's hard to describe.
Architect Boy's house is on the market now, which is weird that it's for real. it's a toss up between him staying in this region (maybe DC?), and moving back home to southern California. within those confines, it looks like the job market will kind of decide that. we've talked about how no matter what path our lives lead both of us, we'll always (be friends, etc.). he is--and has been--so, so good to me, and thinking about it this week has made me both smile and cry.
in other news, my friend Daisy was back in town visiting from California this past weekend, and it was so, so good to see her. i hadn't seen her since she moved away last july. a bunch of us old friends hung out for much of the weekend, and to my delight and surprise, the weekend included a belated birthday treat from my friends, who bought me lunch at a wonderful Italian restaurant: stuffed artichokes and sea bass. we drank mimosas and played scrabble on the balcony afterwards. i am a lucky girl.
