Unravel Me

looking for someone new...

2005-11-09
i'm on the market again for an acupuncturist. more on that in a moment. but first, ANTM...what a great ending to tonight's episode (even though i wouldn't have been sad to see jayla leave)! i was feeling so bad for nicole. anyway, guess what happened last week, right after i put away my summer clothes, got out my sweaters & turtlenecks, and put on flannel sheets? it hit 75 degrees! but i wasn't about to complain about the mild november. the foliage was at its peak, and that made everything alright. even if i was about to ask for an iced pumpkin latte! (or not really).

latey i'm under some stress. plus, i'm struggling with my body b/c on top of a flare, i'm still getting over last week's cold. it seemed so innocuous at first, but it's clinging to me like lint. hopefully, last week's acupuncture helps me. dr. glick called it a "winterizing" treatment, to prepare my immune system for cold/flu season, as well as help w/ my baseline as aggravating cold weather arrives. BUT

i'm so bummed! dr. glick is leaving his practice at year's-end to pursue other interests (comedy/theater & volunteer/charity work). i've mentioned before that he & his brother-in-law (also a doctor) are a comedy duo. their performances raise $ for various charities, and they travel on medical missions with an organization run by patch adams. so dr. glick travels w/ groups of healthcare providers to various (usu. less developed) countries to visit orphanages, HIV clinics, and hospitals. they deliver healthcare mixed with the healing art of humor. he always comes back w/ amazing stories and touching photos. i guess now that his daughter is in college, he felt it was time to move on. he'll certainly be missed by his patients. hopefully i'll get a couple more sessions w/ him before he closes up shop.

i hope to find someone soon. hopefully he can recommend a few. who is good? who charges a fair rate? who takes my insurance? who treats autoimmune conditions & arthritis? who can handle fatigue/stamina issues? male or female? does it matter? it just seems there are so many different styles out there, and probably no two are the same. i suppose it's all about the same kind of "fit" one might look for in a doctor, a counselor/therapist, a hairdresser, a personal trainer, or some other well professional service. i'm sure i'll write more about this again later.

but on that note, i'm off to stress out other stuff now, then take Nyquil and pass out into my bed.

*PS: i suggested dr. glick start a blog of his travels/medical missions. i told him his experiences sounded like they were worth chronicling in a travel journal and he seemed interested in the idea of doing so online.
