Unravel Me

chile rellenos, lady fingers & cowgirl blues

2005-04-03
having great pho for lunch cancels out the fact that ear aches make me grumpy. i had many ear infections as a kid, and history has seemingly been repeating itself this year (#3!). i'm stumped, b/c i swim w/ earplugs, and disinfect and dry them afterwards. unfortunately, grown-ups don't get amoxicillin in its pink, bubble gum flavored liquid form--just purple & white capsules w/ a leaflet reminder to eat yogurt or take acidophilus.

NOW, everybody look at your hands, especially the fingers. don't ask why. just do it, and then keep reading to see how you measure up. :-)

the other night, shawn, mary and i braved the storms and went to a new-ish mexican restaurant, el puerto. mmm! i'll definitely go back soon for another chili relleno. the margaritas look good too. i didn't get one on friday b/c i felt tired enough to fall over last week. and being a lightweight, one reasonably strong margarita would have done me in for the night. instead we ended up at the starbucks @ barnes & noble for coffee and some after-dinner gossip.

somehow, over the course of the evening, we went from talking about scott on american idol to talking about studies linking finger length & aggression in men. (shawn thinks scott bears an eerie resemblance to one of his cousins. not good, huh?). anyway, supposedly, the shorter a man's index finger is in relation to his ring finger, the more violent/aggressive he's likely to be. then we got to talking about a UC Berkeley study correlating finger length & sexual orientation in women. ladies whose ring fingers are longer than their index fingers are more likely to be gay. and guess what? haha, it turns out i have "lesbian fingers"! uh oh! then again, so does mary, so we laughed about it. i suspect these studies need to be taken w/ a gain of salt. if not, then i better dig out some old k.d. lang music or rent even cowgirls get the blues. heh. ;-)

overall, this weekend has been good, if low-key, and a little too short from losing an hour. but longer daylight totally motivates me, and i look forward to being able to walk or go running after work. and speaking of fingers, i think i'm due for a girly manicure. though i'm not "girly", i think something about spring brings out a "girlier" side to me. more later...
