hop in

so where have i been? busy eating Peeps? or crashing from a sugar high? well i hate to disappoint, but no peeps for me. (who eats those indestructible marshmallow confections anyway)? does that article imply that your body's digestive enzymes can't break them down and they stay stuck inside you forever after you eat them? scary. i'm more of a chocolate bunny, cadbury miniatures woman.

i've really just been busy, narcoleptically tired, and not feelin' it on the diary front. but tonight, the d-land servers miraculously let me in for an update! so i've hopped in to report that easter weekend was truly lovely! i had my parents over, and there was a nice showcase of culinary talent (on my part AND my mom's!).

i think strawberry shortcake is one of the best desserts there is! it's classic and timeless for a reason! i also think asparagus is possibly the best vegetable around! its appearance on store shelves signifies the arrival of spring. (the seasonal, "limited-time-only" availability only adds to its appeal). and what can you do when you've got a fridge full of dyed hard-boiled eggs? why, of course, you make a kick-ass egg salad. or you make some excellent deviled eggs. classic deviled eggs are good. curried ones give 'em a trendy twist.

this week, my apt was brightened by a vase full of beautiful red tulips that my dad brought me for easter. spring finally decided to make a debut. i seriously started to doubt it would arrive. but right now, everything outside is starting to bloom and the world is pretty and colorful and fragrant with the delicate pastel display and floral scent that only early spring can bring to charm one's senses. that can only mean good things, right?

*{PS: i went to a co-worker's lovely retirement lunch today. then around 4:30pm i got sad & teary b/c it suddenly hit me that "L" really was leaving when i saw him turn in his keys and lug his briefcase and laptop out of his empty, echoing office one last time}.
