too much on my plate & georgia on my mind...

where has this year gone? december always has a way of sneaking up on everyone. my work and social calendars have both been busy. there are multiple holiday parties on tap in the coming couple of weeks, and i'm sure to be stuffed to the gills with baked goods. i might also be egg-nogged out (not to mention hungover) by the time christmas actually arrives!

this weekend was fun. i went over to the university to the annual artisans bazaar. there were all kinds of crafts and it was a delightful showcase of local talent, with everything from beautiful knitted and crocheted goods, to gorgeous beadwork, to elegant ceramics, to luxurious handmade soaps and bath products. i was reminded of demoderby. sadly, i had never gone to the artisans bazaar during grad school--probably b/c it always fell during finals, so this was a real treat. and it brought back some memories of college. that's b/c our campus also hosted a similar annual crafts fair called the "peddler's fair". i served on the planning committee one year, and helped send out invitations to artisans from all over new england. fun memories...

on saturday i saw the movie ray with cindy and daisy. it was good and jamie foxx did a convincing job playing ray charles. so i certainly wasn't singin' the blues afterwards. did you know that ray charles had fought heroin addiction? i'd thought he'd struggled w/ alcohol, but i guess i'm a young-one, and it was a bit before my time. it's a shame that he died in june, and didn't live to see this movie hit the big screen.

afterwards, we had a fun girls' night out downtown at the hip & trendy rapture (check it out)! our evening came complete w/ girly gossip, laughter until our sides hurt, and of course, good food, fancy drinks and even dessert (!). later on, if you're nice to me, i just might let y'all in on a funny little secret from our night out. it's a pretty darn amusing one, for sure, but for now, i'll keep the laughs to myself...

and now, i need to get busy on a couple of important projects, including some stupid online training module courses offered through george washington u. for work. which means HOMEWORK outside of work...complete with deadlines and quizzes. WTF? don't get me started...
