shiny, swooshy, wet & bouncy

shiny, swooshy, wet & bouncy...

today, i woke up earlier than usual for a saturday. the low, grey (sp??)* clouds didn't dampen my happiness that, despite the lingering neck pain, i finally have my car back from the body shop. YAY! i picked it up yesterday after work and was grinning ear-to-ear when i drove off in what looked like a spankin' brand new machine. the new bumper, rear panels and muffler/pipes are all so shiny!

after breakfast, i was out the door to the city market. there's nothing like living where there's a good farmer's market: fresh (and often hard-to-find) produce, goat cheese and hummus, crafts, organic soaps, music, flowers, and more. i came away with a watermelon and some beautiful eggplants: the white variety, and some round, small green thai eggplants. i think some eggplant-tofu green thai curry will be simmering on my stove in the near future.

after the market, i realized the Women's 4-Miler i'm "training" for is in exactly three short weeks. (yikes!) so i decided to beat the impending rain, and went over to the university track to squeeze in a short workout. at the track, there was this blonde sorority-type girl wearing navy blue nike wind pants. she was running about my speed, and therefore right next to me, for the entire time. can i tell you how annoying it is to hear someone else's pants making a constant "SWOOSH, SWOOSH" sound during your workout? i wonder if i annoy other runners/walkers when i wear my black wind pants....

as i finished my run & walk, the skies opened, thanks to the remains of hurricane charley, which, as i type this, churns offshore down near norfolk/virginia beach. during the wettest part of afternoon, i stayed in and watched the olympics on t.v. it was the women's synchronized springboard diving. later, i ventured out to the aveda salon and got my hair done. now i've got new layers, so my hair looks bouncy and full again. well that's all i can think of for now. ooh, is that a little sunlight i see peeking through the clouds? later gators.

*PS: a quick question for you guys: which is the correct spelling? "grey", or "gray"? i can never be sure.
