i'll take a hefeweisen...

i'm home from my work trip and boy am i exhausted!

but the other night was fun. after the training, six of us headed down to a fun brewery called richbrau in richmond's shockoe slip district. check it out! (that is, only if you're a fan of microbreweries, as i am).

the drive down there was really scenic, taking us across the james river, via the huegenot bridge, and past some of the most impressive homes. i think we passed by where some of the city's big name families, like r.j. reynolds, live. (of course, since it's richmond, most of those big names are, unfortunately, associated with tobacco). phillip morris, anyone?

anyway, the shockoe slip area is a little touristy, but charming, with its cobblestone streets, which no doubt date back to the civil war era. i ordered a hefeweisen--with a lemon in it, of course! as my co-worker ellen correctly noticed, i do really put lemons into everything: water, beer, tea, or squeezed onto fish/seafood. let me just say that this beer was awesome, with its banana-y, fruity flavor, so it was definitely a good choice. and i highly recommend this brewery if you're ever in that city.

now on that note, i have to cut this short b/c am going out to meet my friend, shawn, and his wife mary, for chinese dumplings downtown. i am out of cash now and need to stop at an ATM along the way. don't fear, my friends. i shall *try* to return and update on the rest of that fun tuesday evening of beer, conversations with a mormon in a bar, green thai curry, and late night swimming. but only after i am home with a belly full of vegetable potstickers and sesame noodles. mmkay?
