a few things

1. talk about coincidence: my last entry's subject was the barbie song. today i read news headlines on yahoo. toymaker mattel corp (makers of barbie) lost a supreme court appeal monday over that very song.

2. i had acupuncture today. maybe that deserves another entry in and of itself and i'm too tired right now to write--it's as though i've been flattened by a steamroller.

3. i need to pick my jaw up off the floor. i found out that a guy who went to my h.s. recently married colin powell's daughter anne-marie. i thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when i read the wedding announcement in my parents' hometown paper. this guy was a few years ahead of me in h.s. but he was the charmer type. and now he's the son-in-law of the u.s. secretary-of-state?!

4. i also recently learned that a girl who went to my h.s. (and whom i wasn't the biggest fan of) is doing a medical residency out at ft. lewis. i think she's at madigan army med. ctr. really, i'm pretty easygoing and there are few if any people i actually dislike. i believe *in general* that hate binds us too close to an adversary. gosh it's been so long since h.s. and i probably last saw her in '93 anyway. i guess it was just h.s. competitiveness and jealousy. back then, she wasn't someone i'd have predicted would become a doctor. i also never EVER pictured her living on the west coast. i saw her as staying more regional. maybe ft. bragg or ft. meade, or even ft. hood. but good for her. i'm glad things have worked out for her if that's what she wanted. jealousy and competitiveness are probably just human nature (or maybe human nature gone wrong). i'm curious if she's going to have to rotate through (my sister's) hospital b/c if so, i'll have to warn her she might run into this girl.

5. why does george w. bush pronounce the word nuclear "nukular"????
