Ive read 48 (51 if you count the Harry Potter books individually).

I'm actually a little surprised and maybe even skeptical that the average person has supposedly read only six of these books. Many of them were required in my high school English classes.

This list actually differs slightly (by a few books) from the actual Top 100 books. To go see the The Big Read website and see the entire list of all 200 books nominated as favorite books of all time, go here. I just might take this list and use it to choose new NON school-related books to read whenever I have time or am on vacation from classes. This would also be great for a book club to use.
