Unravel Me

weekend on the pacific

2006-06-19
greetings from colorado! "Phase II" of summer vacation week '06 has begun.

so, spending this past weekend out on the west coast for my friend's wedding was incredible. if you've never been to san diego before, you're really missing out. the weekend went by too fast, but one thing i now know for sure is that getting to spend even just a short amount of time there is a real treat. it was my 1st time in san diego, and in fact, my 1st time in Southern California. it says a lot that i liked san diego just as much as i love the (sf) bay area...even if they are in many ways so different from each other (northern & southern calif).

many photos were taken & much fun was had. but there's not enough time to share it all right now, so that will have to wait. but, if you're one who thirsts for details, then imagine all of the following, if you will, for a moment: yummy fish tacos, a basket of steaming-hot handmade tortillas, close-up live views of adorable pandas munching on bamboo, stunning views of the pacific, and plenty of gorgeous men (esp at the beach!).

now imagine yourself standing on a rocky cliff at Ocean Beach, watching the surfers & sea kayakers while the tide comes in and your sunburned face gets misted by a salty spray that can only mean you're on vacation and have left all of your worries and cares behind. imagine the satisfaction of dipping one's feet into the pacific and feeling the foaming waves break & the ocean swirling around one's ankles & shins. or that satisfying feeling of wet sand between one's toes (before it dries up and turns into an annoyance that you track back into your rental car and hotel room and everywhere else you go!).

last but not least, imagine weddings & friends & waterfront romance. yeah. now we're talkin'.

i'm already daydreaming about my next visit there, where there will be surfing lessons. and FYI: being only 5'2 just may prove advantageous for once, if i should take to the board. a lower center of gravity ='s fewer wipeouts, right? yes.

much more to come later. this week, it's mountain time.
