Unravel Me

sweet cherries, sour grapes, sleek wetsuit

2005-08-12
i'm SO wiped out! maybe i'm still recovering from last month. will i be up for the women's 4-miler on labor day weekend? well i guess it's nice to know there's always the option of walking all or part of it, if need be...

it's amazing that colorado already seems like ages ago. when you're busy, the days go right by and meld together in a blur...but summer has been good, if not a tad too short. i must tell you about how i ate & shopped my way through denver (or not really). but remind me to share my recommendations for biking around town along the platte river & cherry creek. and let me point you to good vietnamese cuisine, mexican food & margaritas, and the best-ever jewish deli in the mile-high city, among other things. i wish i could show you the new dress and skirt i bought, and tell you how they make me feel so feminine & pretty without being frilly-girly.

i'm relishing the last couple of "slow" weeks at work before i have to start going out to the two high schools again. watch me suddenly get flooded w/ new referrals next month! i'm ambivalent about late summer. autumn is lovely, but it's always hard to kiss summer goodbye. you know summer is waning when grocery stores run out of plump, sweet, bing & rainier cherries. suddenly, one week, you walk in and notice that grapes now occupy the display where the cherries once sat. part of the appeal of the cherry, for me, is its limited window of availability. grapes? i actually like green seedless ones, or concords when they're sweet. but eh...generally, i can take 'em or leave em. i don't dislike them by any means, but i don't seek them out and buy them often. they're better off being used to make wine. ;-) sour grapes? no thanks. cherries? bring 'em on!

now here are some good things about the end of summer: farmer's markets sell harvests of every kind of fresh produce you could possibly want. and then there's the county fair, which for us, was last week, & wonderful. next week, i'll tell you all about the pygmy goats, piglets, raspberry pies, funnel cakes & ferris wheel. if your area has one, don't miss out. seriously, GO TO THE FAIR!

FINALLY, imagine me in a sleek wetsuit. or tight, sexy, black bike shorts. well imagine no more! against my good sense, these are my official triathlon photos. on that note, go enjoy the weekend!
